Sergio Afric
Sergio Afric is the most successful foreign coach in Maltese waterpolo.
Having won the league with San Giljan in the early 1990s, he then led Sirens to the title in 2000.
Sliema engaged Sergio in 2001, and went on to win 4 leagues in a row - 5 for Sergio.
In 2005, Sergio felt he needed a new challenge and joined rivals Neptunes, with the aim of ending their drought since 1993. Although he failed in the first year, he went on to win the next two championships.
Sergio then returned to Sliema Pitch, joining the then newly crowned champions in September 2008, and led the team to the 2009 triple crown of Winter and Summer League Titles and Knock-Out Competition ...CHAMPIONS!
The team also won the 2010 Knock-Out Competition plus the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Winter Leagues.
Sergio, who is a permament resident in Malta, is also served as National Team Coach until 2012.
